D is an author and a fanatical reader who loves snarky dialogue and well-developed sentences. She is a sucker for stories with words that teleport her from her everyday world into another realm.

She knows firsthand the heart palpitating, gut-wrenching, hand sweating anxiety a writer feels relinquishing their work into the hands of another. Her white hair proves it. As both writer and editor, offering help is her goal. An author’s best story conveyed to the reader is her purpose. To encourage an author to achieve their book goals and publish their dreams, whether by instinct or command, is in her DNA.

D holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of St. Francis, a Paralegal Certificate from Long Technical College, and a CPE―Certified Professional Editor from Wandering Wordsmith Academy.

After traveling and experiencing life in several states, she now lives in the great state of Tennessee with her daughter, son-in-law, and three precocious cats.

Content Editing
Assess the overall flow of what is already there.
This will cover syntax, voice, tense, flow, overall writing structure, and sometimes grammar.
Make sure the writing style is consistent, readable, and attention-grabbing. This is also where the editor looks for excessive repetition, disjointed writing, paragraph length, and logical sequencing of ideas.
Content editing may also involve rewording sentences and possibly whole paragraphs to enhance readability.

Copy Editing
Manuscript editing, also called copyediting or line editing, requires attention to every word and mark of punctuation in a manuscript, a thorough knowledge of the style to be followed, and the ability to make quick, logical, and defensible decisions.
